1. Executive Chef

Our Executive Chef will lead the award-winning culinary team of Trout Point Lodge, Nova Scotia’s Premier Luxury Wilderness Resort, with passion, consistency and strong values, ensuring all areas of the kitchen are well-managed to a high standard.  

RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Motivating leadership to ensure your team delivers the best possible culinary experience every day, strong leadership of the kitchen brigade at all times 
  • ​​Creation and execution of daily menus (breakfast, lunch, dinner and special event menus) alternative menu (dietary restrictions, intolerances & allergies) and special guest requests 
  • Development of staff meals that are appealing, cost effective and healthy 
  • Develop and expand relationships with key suppliers 
  • Manages all aspects of food production 
  • Scheduling, ordering and inventory management to budget 
  • Recruitment, hiring and performance management of all kitchen staff 
  • Evaluate all outputs of the kitchen to ensure consistent quality standards are maintained at all times, consistency in taste and presentation are key 
  • Meet with guests as required and interact with them whilst dining or otherwise as appropriate  
  • Media and press engagements as required  
  • Establish and maintain a regular maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment 
  • Provide training and professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff 
  • Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients with cost control in mind at all times 
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance 
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours ensuring mise en place is always up to standard 
  • Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimizes waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns 
  • Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed 
  • Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing 
  • Adhere to and follow all WHMIS, first aid, all health & safety standards 
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • 5 years extensive knowledge and experience in fine dining, ideally in a 5-star hotel environment 
  • Able to multi-task, resolve problems, handle conflict and make decisions quickly and effectively 
  • Highly creative and resourceful, must have excellent culinary tastes and artistic flair for presentation 
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills 
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail 
  • Must present a clean and professional appearance at all times  
  • Red Seal certification from an accredited culinary school is an asset

2. Sous Chef

Our Sous Chef will support our Executive Chef in leading our award-winning culinary team of Trout Point Lodge, Nova Scotia’s Premier Luxury Wilderness Resort, with passion, consistency and strong values, ensuring all areas of the kitchen are well-managed to a high standard.

3. Chef de Partie / Chef

The Chef de Partie will be a key member of the award-winning culinary team of Trout Point Lodge, Nova Scotia’s Premier Luxury Wilderness Resort. You will contribute your expertise and skill to ensure the highest levels of quality, efficiency to the culinary team.

  • Ability to work on their own station with the supervision of a superior 
  • Can handle time pressure in a professional manner 
  • Desire to thrive and develop in a high-end fine dining establishment 
  • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills

4. Prep Cook & Kitchen Hand

The Prep Cook and Kitchen Hand will be a key member of the award-winning culinary team of Trout Point Lodge, Nova Scotia’s Premier Luxury Wilderness Resort. You will contribute your expertise and skill to ensure the highest levels of quality, efficiency to the culinary team. 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Food preparation in support of Executive Chef and team 
  • Dishwashing and other tasks as required, especially at dinner service 
  • Additional responsibilities as required to ensure proper and efficient functioning of the team 
  • Must be able to keep his/her station clean and organized at all times 
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Previous work experience in the kitchen is an asset 
  • Ability to stand for long periods 
  • Motivated, reliable, and punctual

5. Head of Food & Beverage

As the Head of F&B, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction in all areas of F&B Service. You will lead a small team to deliver exceptional and efficient F&B Service. You will also be expected to actively work a service leadership role at dinner and occasionally at lunch and other times as required 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Manage a team of high-performing F&B service professionals to deliver an outstanding level of service  
  • Work closely with the Executive Chef, kitchen team and General Manager to ensure smooth operations in all aspects of F&B 
  • Responsible for bar and wine programs and for developing and expanding beverage programs 
  • Inventory control
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • 2-3 years relevant work experience in an F&B environment, ideally in a luxury hotel or 5-star dining environment 
  • Exceptional operational skills to ensure all aspects of service run smoothly with the highest levels of guest satisfaction 
  • In-depth knowledge of restaurant operations. High-end hotel operational experience is an asset 
  • Excellent customer-service mindset and a talent for solving problems effectively 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to work as part of a high-performing team

6. Food & Beverage Server

As a Food & Beverage Server you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of effieciency and guest satisfaction in food & beverage service. Primarily dinner-focused, you will also be required to work lunch and occasional breakfast shifts. 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Provide impeccable dining room service to guests while maintaining the highest levels of operational efficiency 
  • Explain menu options and take orders with accuracy and professionalism 
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timeliness and accuracy of all orders 
  • Ensure adherence to all dietary restrictions and special orders 
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience in an F&B environment, ideally in a luxury hotel or 5-star dining environment 
  • Exceptional operational skills to ensure all aspects of service run smoothly with the highest levels of guest satisfaction 
  • Familiarity with fine dining and wine is a significant asset 
  • Understanding of restaurant operations. High-end hotel operational experience is an asset 
  • Excellent customer-service mindset and a talent for solving problems effectively 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and to work as part of a high-performing team

7. Bartender / Server

As a Bartender, you will be responsible for exceeding guest expectations in all areas of bar service, including cocktails, wines, beers and non-alcoholic beverages. Although primarily bar-focused, you will also be required to assist in service as required. 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Provide impeccable bar service to guests while maintaining the highest levels of operational efficiency 
  • Take and fulfill orders with accuracy, professionalism and warmth 
  • Work with the F&B team and General Manager on special bar projects as required 
  • Manage bar inventory efficiently and with minimal wastage 
  • Assist in service as required
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • 1-2 years relevant work experience in an bar environment, ideally in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant environment 
  • Exceptional operational skills to ensure all aspects of service run smoothly with the highest levels of guest satisfaction 
  • Familiarity with fine dining and wine is a significant asset 
  • Thorough understanding of bar operations. High-end hotel operational experience is an asset 
  • Excellent customer-service mindset and a talent for solving problems effectively

As a Front Desk Agent, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction and will play an essential role in responding to guest requests and needs. 

RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Responding to guest questions and requests in an efficient and professional manner 
  • Providing warm, customer-centric service at all times, with a focus on exceeding guest expectations 
  • Performing daily guest check-ins and check-outs  
  • Creating and processing invoices and payments 
  • Taking phone calls and queries, and responding to e-mail inquiries 
  • Coordinating daily guest activities punctually and professionally 
  • Assisting with service activities as required

  • 1-3 years related experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in the hospitality industry

  • Pro-actively resolve problems in an efficient and professional manner

10. Registered Massage Therapist

The RMT provides massage and spa services to guests, and is responsible for ensuring the highest levels of guest service and satisfaction. This is a contract role running from May 2021 to February 2022. Free on-site room and board and meals available to qualified candidates. 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES   
  • Responsible for providing massage and therapeutic services to guests 
  • Responsible for maintaining the highest level of professionalism in all guest interactions 
  • Responsible for ensuring hygenic and health standards are met at all times 
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
  • Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) certification is required 
  • Ideally 1-3 years experience in a luxury hotel or spa environment 
  • Fully competent in different  forms of massage
  • Aesthetic treatment capabilities  like facials is a plus
  • Customer-service and guest-focused mindset 
  • Exceptional punctuality, enthusiasm, energy and willingness to go the extra mile to ensure a top-notch guest experience 
  • Must present a clean and professional appearance at all times

11. Staff Naturalist & Guide

As a Staff Naturalist and Guide, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest levels of guest satisfaction and will play an essential role in providing guests with unique and memorable experiences. 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES  
  • Lead small group guided excursions with guests, including hiking, nature walks, stargazing, forest bathing, kayaking, canoeing, stand-up paddle boarding and others 
  • Ensure guided excursions are conducted safely at all times 
  • Ability to offer entertaining and informative information to guests, and an ability to answer basic and, in some cases, advanced questions 
  • The ideal candidate would be willing and able to take on additional responsibilities such as maintenance, service or others to be discussed 

QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Knowledge of local flora, fauna and forest ecosystems 
  • Knowledge of night skies, planets, constellations, stars, etc 
  • Ability to operate advanced telescopic equipment 
  • Advanced knowledge of night sky photography and photo editing are an asset
